The Long and Not-So-Winding Road ……

Up in the morning and off to Colorado. Our first night on the way home ended in South Shore Lake Tahoe. This should have been a bout 4hrs from Morgan Hill but there was an accident on Hwy 50 that closed the road for about 1.5hrs. Tired and ready for a break, we got a room at the Hard Rock hotel.  Not a bad place, decent views from the balcony, nice bed and good tunes throughout the hotel.

On the road again…. This part of the trip takes us through scenic Nevada and Utah and the “Never Ending Desert”. My God, who ever crossed this in a wagon??? If you’ve never had the pleasure of driving across Nevada via Hwy50, don’t! This has to be the most boring stretch of road in the US! If it wasn’t for the occasional Pony Express station, there wouldn’t be much of anything to write about.

We did stumble upon a very unique tree. Seems that in Ely, Nevada they recycle their sneakers by throwing them onto this tree. What else is there to do out here?

Puts a new perspective on the term “shoe tree”.

All joking aside, there are some pretty amazing rock formations in this desert. I wouldn’t say they’re worth a drive out but if you find yourself on this road, look for them.
