Stannard vs Morgan

In the never ending battle between the Stannard’s and the Morgan’s, once again we need to set the record straight. Imagine my surprise when planning for this adventure, I came across a town in Vermont named, “Stannard” in Vermont. Imagine that I also was surprised to find a town in Vermont named, “Morgan”. Well, the fight was on!

Once in Vermont we had to, just had to, visit these two towns to see what is special about them, other than their names. First up was Stannard, Vermont. The drive was through small towns, hilly countryside, on a two-lane road, until it turned into a dirt road. Weaving around curves, up hills, over bridges until finally we come to the metropolis of Stannard. They even have a mountain named after them!

Not going to try to influence your thoughts so here are a few pictures of “Stannard, Vermont”.

Next up was Morgan, Vermont, a pretty little hamlet located in the north of Vermont, close to the Canadian border. Situated at the edge of a beautiful lake, Morgan seems to be a bit newer and possibly larger than Stannard. Difficult to say since neither had a population sign. But Morgan did have a nice country store and church just as you entered town. We stopped at the store to have a piece of bread pudding with maple syrup and coffee.

Time to clear out of Morgan but not without going before we leave, long drive back to Colebrook, NH. The lady at the store was generous enough to offer the use of the porta-potty located in the parking lot by the shed for our use. How nice of her. Not sure what the safety cone is used for but I’m sure it’s important.
