Once again…we’re in Europe!

Once again we find our heroes in Europe.

Well, nothing to report on for the flight from Denver to Brussels. We did have a small problem taking off in Denver, they couldn’t get one of the engines started. Not to worry was the comment made to us by our captain, we have another one that’s working just fine. Real comedian. Seems the APU (auxiliary power unit) was disconnected before they could power up one of the engines so they had to “cross strap” the engine to get it to start. Worked like a champ. Now if only it will stay running for the duration…

Made it to NY and enjoyed sitting in the terminal for a short 5 hours awaiting our next 7hr 36minute flight to Brussels.  Flying Comfort + class on Delta so we had two seats to ourselves while enjoying our rubber chicken dinner with a glass of red wine. Second glass of wine, an Advil PM and nite-nite.

Breakfast was much better with a real egg and muffin served piping warm with instant decaf coffee and orange juice. Good enough.

Made our way to “The Loft” lounge for hot shower and food before our next flight to Lyon, France. Nice lounge, good food, drinks, and showers, all for the low, low price of about $200.00.  We bid on upgrading our seats to Business Class which included use of the lounge. If you figure that a meal in the airport is a good $100.00 plus drinks, then a shower, the cost is justified. They do have free showers in the airport but they can be a bit sketchy. Besides, the “Loft” offers clean showers and decent food.

Tomorrow, we pick up our leased car, a Peugeot Model 2008 (not the year but the model) and drive to Dijon, home to the French mustard industry.  Yep, located in the middle of Burgundy, the best wine growing region in France, lies the mustard industry. Can’t wait to do a little tasting.

Leaving you with a pic of the “Loft” lounge. Gotta get to bed so we can catch up with the new time zone.
