On the road again
I know, this is the third time I’ve used this phrase to intro our adventure, but this one is different. This intro is in honor of Larry “The Mole” Taylor, bassist for Canned Heat who lost his battle with cancer late last week. One of the best songs produced by the band, “On the Road Again” was released in 1968 and screamed to #16 on the Billboard charts. 51 years later, still a great song!
So with the planning done, tickets bought (most), hotels, houses, apartments rented, packing almost done, we’re ready for our next adventure. Like last time we’re going to be on the road for 3 months. This time we’re roaming in Scandinavia (Sweden, Norway & Denmark), then on to the UK (Scotland & England). And as the last time, we’re doing it in the Fall, September through December, so it will start with short sleeves and end with sweaters.
Here’s a summary: 4 rental cars, 12 houses / apartments, 5 hotels; ~ 3600kms driving in Scandinavia, ~3,500kms in Scotland, and ~3,800kms in England. A little over 6,400 miles in 3-months! Assume 20 miles per gallon that’s 320 gallons of gas, times an average of $6.00 per gallon = $1,920.00. What a bargain! And that doesn’t include those wonderful toll roads or ferries in Scandinavia!
Hey, we don’t do this because it’s cheap, we do it because I’m told we’ll do it and that’s good enough for me.
OK, in the final throws of prepping and packing so we should have more about the adventure starting on the 4th of September. I know, tough waiting that long but have a glass (or bottle) of wine and just chill until we have more to report.
Until then………..click below and enjoy!
