Off to Hawaii and the beautiful Kona Coast

Our shuttle bus picked us up at 6:15am for the ride to the Oakland airport. Final tally of the family was 16 loving, warm and caring individuals, all happy and excited to see each other at this wonderful time of day.  On the bus and on the way, done!

Once our shuttle bus driver figured out the exit for buses, we collected our bags and headed off to check in.

As a group, traveling to Hawaii was fairly easy. One young lady from Alaska Airlines came to our rescue and walked us through the check-in process and baggage drop. With her help, it went very smoothly and sort of quick. Now getting through TSA was another adventure. Collette and I have TSA Pre-Check because we’re registered travelers and paid the minuscule fee of $85.00 each. Those who didn’t got in the cattle line.

Within no time we’re all through the lines and waiting for our plane. Wasn’t a lot of drama getting through, after all we were there 3 hours before our flight so we had a little time to kill. The real adventure was just about to start……..

Our wonderful grandson, London, had only been on one plane before this trip. It was the day before our flight to Hawaii and he didn’t particularly care for anything on the plane or about flying. Mom and Dad did their best to pacify or entertain the little guy but nothing seemed to calm him down.  Should be an interesting 5hr flight!

Yes that IS a lamb stuck to her nose!

After a short time, although I’m sure my daughter and her husband didn’t feel like it was a short time, London fell asleep. There was a sigh of relief from the economy cabin and everyone decided to celebrate with alcoholic drinks. I’m not talking just about our family, I’m talking about the entire economy class section!  A few short hours later and there you have it, Hawaii! Now get everything off the plane, grab the luggage, get a rental van and drive to an obscure location a quick 40 minutes away and start to relax. Now we’re having fun!

London finally called it quits!
