Idaho Falls Y’all

Up at around 7am, showered and hit up the complimentary breakfast then back on the road. Next stop is Idaho Falls, ID. Have you heard how Idaho single-handedly put an end to Ebonics?  Tell you some other time.

Idaho Falls has, falls. Well they really aren’t falls like in Niagara but they are falls. Now I understand not every town can have a major site like a dinosaur wall, but the falls are a stretch. Some time ago the town decided to “make” these falls as part of a power station implementation. Now the river did have falls (I’m guessing about 20’ tall) already there but what God has done, let man try to improve on! So they built cement dams to allow the river to flow over onto the natural rock and there you have it, bigger falls! They also funneled the water into a channel that leads to a hydro-electric plant and now they have electricity from water, cool huh! Well, it’s a nice walk along the river with or without dramatic falls. Even found a chia-moose!

Our hotel is the Le Ritz. Definitely no similarity between this one and any other thing called “Ritz” except maybe the cracker! Room was standard except for the dog barking next door and the fact that it took 20 minutes to find a clean room even after 3pm, the allotted check-in time.  Pretty uneventful and had nothing noteworthy.

Dinner was at the #4 restaurant in Idaho Falls according to Tripadvisor, The Sandpiper. Food was actually pretty good. Collette had shrimp in teriyaki sauce with rice and I had NY steak with fries. The food was OK but the real treat was watching a duck try to choke down a piece of bread some lady gave it. Guess if you’re going to feed the ducks, even though they tell you not to, you need to break the loaf down a bit. Ducks swallow things whole! Just for fun I told our waitress she should go over and tell the lady she added the cost of duck to her bill. She didn’t.

Next day, same story. Up at 7am, hit the free breakfast and then back on the road. On our way to Salmon, ID. This is a biggie so I’m going to stop here and collect my thoughts on this major stop before writing. I really want to get this one right.

So, few days cruising, eating in rest areas and restaurants. Lots of things to see, good road kill list started and we also started a trailer / motorhome list just in case the road kill slows down.

As they say in Idaho, see ya later, spud.
