Costa Rei Retreat

Finally arrived at our destination home for the next 3 days, Costa Rei. This small resort town is perfect for our down time, no tours, fewer people, and the beach. Not that we plan to hit the waves, pretty chilly water, but a stroll along the beach is definitely on the agenda. All the travel brochures say that Costa Rei has idyllic white sandy beaches, with a lively culture. During the off-season, things are a little more subdued, but the beaches are still beautiful.

Our hosts, Daniel and Sara, met us at the home and walked us through the ins & outs. They also told us everything one would want to know about the area and Costa Rei. They did apologize that so many things had closed due to it being the off season. What a nice couple. They’re young, energetic, knowledgeable about the area, and very personable. They made us feel right at home. The home is a two-bedroom, 2 bath (3 if you count the outside shower) bungalow located on a small, narrow street leading to the beach. This will be perfect for our stay here.

Still warm, probably around 73F or so, and now really humid. The beach was a nice stretch of sand with a few die-hard beachgoers hanging around. Maybe tomorrow we’ll think about dipping our toes in the Tyrrhenian Sea.

Costa Rei

Costa Rei is located on the south-east side of Sardinia in a region known as the “King’s Coast” which stretches from San’t Elmo to Capo Ferrato. During tourist season the area thrives with beach goers, swimmers, snorkelers and divers all enjoying the never-ending beaches and warm sea temperatures.
