Bus trip to Puerto Natales
Gonna try out the Chilean bus system today with a 3.5hr ride from Puerto Montt to Puerto Natales. There are basically 2 ways to get around in South America, plane and bus. There are no railroads and driving is not recommended for various reasons. So, you have the choice of money versus time, flying can be expensive compared to the bus, and not every city has an airport so you might end up on a bus anyway
We chose the bus because its dirt cheap, $10US each for the ride. We got to select our seats and since these buses are pretty comfortable (they do have a toilet), 3.5hrs shouldn’t be a bad ride.
And we were right. Got to Puerto Natales right on time and somewhat rested, collected our bags and hailed a nearby taxi to take us to our Airbnb. The taxi ride cost 2500CHP or about $2.80US.
Checked into our house for the next couple of days, made sure the clothes washer worked, then headed to town for a little dinner. Going to do a load of laundry tonight then hit the sack. Got an early morning and an all day tour tomorrow.
