Back in Colorado

Made it home after 4200 miles of touring the Pacific Northwest and a week in Hawaii with the family. Pretty nice time, saw quite a lot and not one rain storm the whole time. Well, not exactly. Just as we crossed the Continental Divide on Hwy9, about 5 miles from Fairplay, it poured for about 5 minutes! Damn, now I have to wash the car!

We did have a little game going during this trip. Collette wrote down every trailer, camper and motorhome we saw along the way. We also kept track of the road kill, sounds a little morbid but it helped pass the time. After we got home we rated the names, based on whether it was macho or sissified. You know, used to be campers were named after parks or dogs and birds, now it has to be threatening. As you can see, most of these recreation vehicles start with the letter “S”. I’m sure there was a study performed to determine the letter with the most impact.

We saw quite a few Raptors, Shockwaves and Thunderbolts; and an occasional Honey. These names just set the stage for a relaxing weekend when your camping neighbor pulls in with their 60’ Voltage Eliminator and unloads 6 ATV’s, 4 motocross bikes and a boat. Here’s to the great outdoors!
