A German bakery in Ghandruk!
Today we explore Ghandruk! After a hearty breakfast of egg omelets, toast, mixed veggies and high-test coffee, off to the Ghandruk Museum. Bit of a walk from the lodge so Sundis has offered to help us find our way. Good thing, it’s about 30 minutes down the hill in a direction we’ve never gone. Really helps that this is in the shade, the wet, mossy stones add a sense of adventure to what would normally n=be a boring stroll through the woods.
The one-room museum showcases ancient (or just old) artifacts used by the early Gurung people who settled here. There are knives, pots, large copper bowls, lots of pictures when the Dali llama came to visit, and if you so desire, traditional Gurung costumes you can rent. We passed on the costumes but some young people on a field trip from their school were good enough to pose for a picture for us.
That’s it, back to the lodge where we will take a break before heading to the German bakery for a fika.
Tonight, I have selected chicken and chips and Collette chose chicken and noodles for dinner. Getting a bit cloudy so there may be some rain in the forecast for this evening. Hopefully it will clear the skies and tomorrow we will see Annapurna.
Had a bit of a snack before dinner while playing some cards… Still can’t get used to the rum!
