An interim adventure to Arizona
Well, not quite as exotic as Thailand or New Zealand, our next adventure will be a month in the beautiful state of Arizona. Arizona is one of 3 states we are looking at for a second home, snowbird thing although I hate that term, for the winter months. We’ve read about the tax benefits for retirees in Arizona and want to go check out the homes and communities for ourselves.
There are probably better than 20, 55+ communities in the Phoenix / Scottsdale area so a month should give us sufficient time to do a walkabout at a few of these places. Not saying you can’t trust pictures and descriptions off the Internet, you know if its on the Internet it has to be true, they can’t lie! Just the same, we’ll do a little trust but verify for ourselves.
So to start this adventure, back to vacation home rental websites and wading through descriptions and pictures, and most importantly, reviews. So far we’ve sent a request for “discounts” available for the time we’ll be there to roughly 30 homes. I think we’ve looked at about 50 homes with pretty strict filters and this is the first cut.
Responses have been good. All but a couple have come back with significant discounts, to the tune of $1-3,000.00! Some just didn’t get the memo and responded with an invoice!!! Really, an invoice! Where the hell is your business sense???
Anyway, going to keep working through these homes while simultaneously checking homes in South America and Europe for our trip next year.
More to follow……
