Oamaru Steampunk Museum
What the hell is Steampunk? Well, from what we can tell, it is art and design that combines things totally unrelated into a statement. What the hell does that mean? It means taking items such as a boiler or old TV, and turning it into a lobster or crab or corpse by welding, gluing, stapling, nailing, tying pieces together. This can also be a form of dress with welding goggles attached to hardhats; motor gears welded to belt buckles, etc. Get the idea?
Well, Oamaru happens to have a museum dedicated to Steampunk. And of course, its in an old warehouse with tons of artistic representations of repurposed stuff. Really a fun experience for those who have never used drugs, or claimed to have never used drugs, or have always wanted to know what its like to use drugs. Collette told me this was exactly what she saw when she did methamphetamine mixed with LSD, heroin and a little Jack Daniels. She felt right at home.
Not much you can really say to explain the pieces we saw so I’ve included a few pictures to help you understand. If you do understand, please forward the explanation to us for $5.00 off your next viewing charge.
Cheers.
