Queenstown
Made it to our apartment in Queenstown, finally. Raining a little so we decided to hang out, play games (dice, cards, stretch) and have a little wine. Tomorrow is forecasted for rain so back to the vineyards and wine tasting!!! Queenstown area is known as Central Otago, home to some excellent wines. (approximately 1,930 hectares of production, 2.5% of NZ wine industry, predominately Pinot Noir) Mostly whites, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris, etc., we’ll head out on the official “wine trail” in the morning.
The apartment is comfortable, very clean and located near the center of town. Walking distance to most restaurants and shops. Like almost everything in Queenstown, right on the lake, Lake Wakatipu. With a population of around 14,000, Queenstown is the 27th largest city in NZ. Lots of things to do here.
Probably the most dramatic feature here are the Remarkables, a mountain range to the east of Queenstown. Rising some 7,600′ above the town, this is a place for Mr. Hartmann. Lots of skiing, and it looks pretty steep! Add this to your bucket list, amigo. Truly, you guessed it, remarkable!
So tomorrow we explore but for the rest of today, relax and watch it rain…….. and have a glass of wine!
