Nelson Farmer's Market

Nelson Farmer’s Market

It’s Saturday and off to the Farmer’s Market. After one of Collette’s famous breakfasts, drove down to the city center for a stroll and maybe pick up some local produce. There are local arts & crafts as well, and plenty of homemade goodies like preserved meats, honey, dolls, sweaters, and jewelry. We bought some peanut butter (must still be suffering from jet lag) and found a coffee shop for a pastry while waiting for the Free Trade performance to begin.

We did see the home owner’s group perform who got the crowd involved in their dancing and even playing instruments. Although it was hard, I held Collette back from participating in the dancing, those happy feet just can’t be stopped!

Lunch was at a nice restaurant on the water called, “The Boathouse Café”.  I had a nice chicken and risotto dish while Collette went full-native with green mussels and cockles. Biggest damn mussels I’ve ever seen, she even had to cut them to eat them. Ugh!

So endth the second full day in NZ.  Home for the evening to try out some of the local wine then off to bed. Big day tomorrow, heading to Abel Tasman National Park for a little tramping. (That means something entirely different here than in Oakland, CA)
