First week down, 7 more to go!
A lot has happened since we last saw our hero…….. Well, not a lot except pool time. Weather has been warm to hot and a fair amount of wind. The radio reported gusts of up to 30mph or a little higher but at least it keeps the bugs away! Spending a great deal of time by the pool reading. Bob was kind enough to loan me “The Source” by James Michener as a quick read during this adventure. Measuring at least 2in thick with 6 point font, I should get through the 1078 pages sometime before I die. Anyway, I’m enjoying the book so thank you Bob.
Collette is also engrossed in a book or rather books. I think she has finished 3 and is now in the middle of the complete Shakespeare writings. Show off!
Went to the restaurant a few days ago and what a pleasant surprise. This well sized open-air dining hall has one of the best beach views we’ve ever seen. Nice grassy area in front leading to a small pebble beach, very nice. The entire building appears to be made of teak which is one of the nicest woods to look at, and has ample seating for about 40-50 people.
The food was another peasant surprise! With a menu of pizzas, pastas and my favorite, breakfast, there is something for everyone. Each day there is a special, sometimes fish, sometimes beef, sometimes pork depending on what was in that days delivery. We had the dinner special which was gnocchi with pesto sauce and a shrimp and pasta dish. Both were very nice and the portions were plenty. We also had a nice bottle of Malbec to round out the meal. All told, cost us around $35.00USD and was worth the price.
Rest of the week was spent lounging and trying our hand at tan-but-don’t-burn techniques. I chose to go for 4 songs in the blazing sun with no sun screen then lather up with SPF 20. Collette chose to lather up with SPF 50, hit the shade and pool and continue to read comfortably. After a couple of days I’m sure the burn won’t sting much more but until then it’s SPF 50, shade and pool.
